Welcome to your Mary Kay journey. This business is built on connection, confidence, and sharing products that make women feel beautiful and empowered. You’re part of a supportive community and sisterhood that grows together and celebrates progress every step of the way.
I'm excited to be on this journey with you!
The Great Start® Program is designed to help you build momentum quickly and earn rewards as you begin your Mary Kay business. This short video explains how Great Start works and how you can take advantage of these opportunities right away.
I’m here to help you understand your options and choose what feels right for you.
Important Note Before setting up your online My Shop, be sure you’ve decided how you want to start your business using the options above. If a customer places an order with you before you place your initial order with the Company, you will no longer be eligible to select Option 1 and will forfeit any associated product bonuses. Questions? Let’s talk first. If you’re unsure which option is right for you or when to set up your My Shop, please reach out to me before moving forward. I’m happy to walk through the options with you and help you choose the path that fits your goals best.
This is the beginning — and you’re ready to start building something meaningful. It’s completely normal to feel excited and a little overwhelmed right now. You’re not expected to know everything, and you’re certainly not expected to do it alone.
You’re surrounded by women who have walked this path before you — women who are here to guide you, support you, and celebrate your progress along the way. This journey is about growing together, learning as you go, and enjoying every milestone — big and small.
Before you click everything Mary Kay sends you, let’s slow this down just enough to make sure you don’t accidentally miss out on bonuses or product that most new consultants really want. This email is here to help you make smart first decisions, not rushed ones. ✨ Tip: Bookmark this page so you can come back to it anytime as your business grows.
For now, your focus is simply getting set up and becoming familiar with your options. There’s no rush — we’ll build this step by step.
During your first week, concentrate on:

Understanding your Mary Kay Personal Website - My Shop
Once you’re logged into InTouch, you’ll see the option to set up My Shop, your personal Mary Kay online storefront.
My Shop is one of the ways Consultants can sell products, but it’s important to understand how it fits into your overall start plan before setting it up.
When used, My Shop provides:
A professional online shopping experience for customers
Online payments and company-direct shipping
One place to manage orders, customers, and activity
Some Consultants choose to begin with My Shop, while others prefer to start with inventory or take time to plan their approach.
💡 Payment setup is guided step by step during My Shop setup — and your Director can help you decide when this step makes the most sense for you.
This video explains what My Shop is and how it works — setup can be done later once you’ve chosen your start plan.
✨ Before setting up My Shop, be sure you’ve discussed your start plan with your Director.
Another Way to Get Started Online
A Contact Card is a simple way for customers to find and connect with you online.
It allows customers to find you on marykay.com with your name, photo, and contact information — without setting up an online store.
This option is ideal if you’d like to focus on learning, planning, and connecting first, and decide on selling tools later with guidance from your Director.
Your Director can help you decide which option makes the most sense — and when to take the next step.
Before selling begins, it helps to lay a simple foundation for your business — starting with people and connection.
This is about creating awareness and confidence at your own pace. You’re simply laying the groundwork — the rest builds naturally.
This may include:
Creating a simple contact list of people you already know
Setting up your customer-facing social media presence
Planning a relaxed “grand opening” to introduce your business
I’ll guide you step-by-step so this feels natural, not uncomfortable.
Who do you know?
Who do you do life with? Start a list of people you already know — not to sell to, but to build awareness and connection. Think in terms of relationships, not sales.
If you were making an invite list for your wedding or a big celebration, who would you include? Friends, family, neighbors, co-workers, church connections, gym friends, school communities, and social media contacts are all great places to start.
This list will grow naturally over time. For now, simply highlight or circle the 15 people you feel closest to — these are the relationships you’ll likely connect with first.
It's time to get Social!
It's important to set up your business social media pages. Social media is the perfect place to stay connected and be discovered - you can network with a larger group of people from the comfort of your own home, and promote your business through various channels.
Make your business social media official by setting up a Customer Facebook Group or Page as your home base — this is where Mary Kay trainings, events, and team communication are easiest to manage. Start individually inviting friends/family to join. Don't "mass-add" or send an invitation until you have reached out personally.
From there, you can expand your visibility using platforms you already enjoy, like Instagram or TikTok, to share products, behind-the-scenes moments, and real-life experiences.
Facebook – Community, customers, events, and groups
Instagram – Visual sharing, stories, reels, and connection
TikTok – Short-form video, trends, and discovery
You don’t need to be everywhere — start with the platform you’re most comfortable using and grow from there.

Host a Grand Opening
Host a Grand Opening (In-Person or Virtual) A Grand Opening is a simple, relaxed way to introduce your business to the people already in your world — and it can be done in whatever way feels most comfortable to you.
This can be as casual as a short social media post, a small gathering, or a virtual event. The goal isn’t perfection — it’s connection. You’re simply letting others know you’ve started something new and inviting them to support you.
To make this easy, I’ve included a ready-to-use Grand Opening image you’re welcome to share on social media if you’d like. You can use it as-is, personalize it, or skip it altogether — there’s no right or wrong way to begin.
When you’re ready, you’ll also find step-by-step guidance inside the MKConfident™ Grand Opening module on InTouch® to help you plan in a way that feels natural and stress-free.
You have options when it comes to how you sell — and there’s no “one right way.” You can start simple and grow into more as you gain confidence.
Below are the most common ways Consultants get started today. You get to choose what works best for you, your schedule, and your customers.
Sell with Inventory or Customer Delivery Service - CDS
Some Consultants prefer to sell directly using personal inventory or by placing
Customer Delivery Service orders.
Orders can be taken by text, phone, email, or in person
You can accept payments using methods like Square, Venmo, Zelle, or cash
Products can be delivered in person or shipped to the customer
CDS orders placed through myCustomers are paid at wholesale using your preferred payment method
This option gives you full control over the customer experience and is great for Consultants who enjoy hands-on service.
Sell Through Parties In Person or Virtual
Parties are a fun, social way to introduce products and grow your customer base. In-Person Parties
Face-to-face connection with guests
Customers can try products before they buy
Great for building long-term relationships
Virtual Parties
Hosted through Facebook Groups, Zoom, or social platforms
Customers shop through your My Shop during and after the event
Flexible and easy to host from anywhere
Both options work beautifully. Parties can be simple, casual, and tailored to your style — no pressure to make them complicated.
Sell Online with My Shop
My Shop allows customers to shop online anytime, while the Company handles payment processing and shipping for you.
Customers place orders directly through your personal My Shop
Orders are shipped straight from Mary Kay®
No inventory required to begin
This option gives you flexibility, saves time, and allows you to focus on customer relationships and sharing products — without managing deliveries.
